Welcome back to the final Wednesday of October! It’s so odd to think there are really only two months left of the year. What a shitter of a year it has been. A constant, singular note of monotone in so many ways, with no sign of it being over with any time soon. For me, I’ve only recently started braving everyday things again, and now cases are rising in my area, so I’ll be retreating back to my bedroom, waiting for things to subside. We’ve been constantly scared for the best part of a year now and that in itself is hard work, so I think it’s important we find the little bursts of joy and moments of laughter to get us through.
My little happiness this week is new glasses! Admittedly it cost me too much) but it was needed, and putting them on yesterday was like suddenly seeing all over again. I’m still blind, but my ‘normal’ level of vision is back. I also treated myself to a venti caramel macchiato from Starbucks on the way home from the hospital after an MRI scan, and that was just a lovely little moment of normality.

As always, WWW Wednesday is about looking at your current reading habits by asking three simple, easy to answer questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?
I’m always awful at answering that last one but I’m going to give it a go because I think I have my answer for once!!
What have you recently finished reading?
I have just finished reading my ARC from NetGalley of Kingdom of the Wicked, which was published yesterday. I did enjoy it, although it’s not my favourite book of the year. I found it a bit hot and cold with how it was written, which is a shame, because it was a book I was really excited for. That said, I would still recommend it, as the storyline itself was interesting, and I was keen to know what was coming next throughout.
What are you currently reading?
Having finished one ARC, I’m right on to another! I’m 20% of my way through The Betrayals by Bridget Collins currently. I had mixed feelings about her previous book, and I have mixed feelings about this one so far, but there’s no denying that Collins is a very talented writer.
What are you planning on reading next?
I’m stubbornly making my way through my ARCs at the moment, and I have a few really exciting books on my list. When I’ve finished The Betrayals I think I’ll either be reading These Violent Delights or The Cousins, which I’m doing a blog tour for later on in the year.
Well, there we have it – the end of October! Stay safe everyone. x
YAY for new glasses, I am always so surprised at how shitty my vision was whenever I get a new pair lol. Sorry you didn’t enjoy Kingdom of the Wicked as much as you hoped, and I’m excited for These Violent Delights!
