Christmas may have been a few days ago, but we’re still enjoying the fun of too much food, board games to play, and new books to read. We’re lucky, as my husband has had a full week off work, and we’re making the most of the time we get to spend together with twinkly lights dancing off sequins on jumpers.
Ellie over at Read To Ramble tagged me in this tour just before Christmas, and I decided to save it until now as a fun, relaxed, post-Christmas tag. I know I’ve done far more book tags than normal recently, but there’s something that makes me just feel happy filling them out, and reading other’s answers too, and if you can’t be happy at Christmas, when can you be?
Let’s get started.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I need to get better at it, is the short answer! I have a book journal that my husband kindly bought me for Christmas, so I’m going to really spend some time filling it out and trying to stay on top of what I’ve got to read. I’m also going to sit down and dedicate some time to filling out GoodReads in the new year, and get as many of my TBR books on there as possible.
Is your TBR mostly print or ebooks?
I’d say it’s a fairly even match. Maybe slightly more ebooks? Also audiobooks.
(Edit – after checking my Kindle for the last question, more ebooks. Wow.)
How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
Honestly it’s mostly random. I’m going to develop a better system in the new year like I say, and I’ll come up with a way of planning out what to read. It’s weird because sometimes I know exactly what I want to read next, and other times I have no idea. I’m thinking of doing a jar with book titles in it so when I don’t know what to read, I can pick one out and just roll with it. It also comes down to how many ARCs I have at a time, as they obviously need to take some priority.
A book that’s been on your TBR the longest.
I started the book Mad, Bad and Sad almost as long ago as I got my first Kindle. Still haven’t finished it. That must be almost ten years of intending to read it.
A book you recently added to your TBR.
After chatting with some of my fellow book friends before Christmas, I’ve got From Blood and Ash as my newest added. I’d heard good things about it, and then had three lovely people essentially pressure selling the book to me. So that was decided!
A book that is on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
A Deal With the Elf King. I really am a sucker for a beautiful cover. I don’t tend to buy (too) many books based on that fact alone, but this one ended up on my Kindle very quickly.
A book on your TBR you NEVER plan on actually reading.
I haven’t got a single book in answer to this! Every book I own or wishlist, I do plan on reading, even if I have got books that exceed my life expectancy.
An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for.
I recently received a physical copy of Laura Purcell’s latest book, The Shape of Darkness. I’ve read everything else she’s written and loved them all, so I’m really excited for this spooky read.
A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you.
I’ll have to say the Shadowhunters collection. I’ve read City of Bones and City of Ashes, but I’m very late to the party as far as these are concerned. Most of my bookworm friends
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
Ooh tough one. I think I’ll have to say the Rivers of London series. I’ve read the first one, and actually keep meaning to pick up the second. It just stares at me accusingly every time I read another book.
A book on your TBR you’re just dying to read.
SO MANY. After careful thought, I’m going to say Serpent & Dove. I was gifted this for Christmas by a friend and I’m really excited about reading it. I’ve heard so many things, and it sounds like it’s going to be a really brilliant read. But I could say this about so many of my books!
The number of books on yoru GoodReads TBR shelf.
Well like I’ve said in this post and so many times before – I’m pretty useless with GoodReads, so that’s no way of telling how many books I actually have to read. I do have 602 unread Kindle books though!
Tagging: Hannah, who asked to be tagged, and anyone else who wants to join in!
Such a fun tag! It really makes me think about the way I organize my tbr!
