Hello hello, and welcome on this lovely Wednesday in March to my little corner of the internet for WWW Wednesday. I’m doing a dancing combination of reading my March TBR, my attempt at the Trope-ical Readathon, and also my natural stance, which is that of a mood reader – I just can’t help it when I need a good fantasy or young adult thriller. As I’ve mentioned before this year, I’m making a dedicated effort to be more structured in my reading, but it really is like a grown up case of nature vs nurture to see what will win out.
WWW Wednesday is a lovely easy way of tracking how recent reading has been going. There’s three simple questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
I seem to be whizzing through books at the moment, but my most recently finished read is Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. A friend recommended this to me based on my love of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder series. It’s sat on my shelf for ages and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to pick it up because I absolutely LOVED it. It was so witty, in both a clever and funny sense, and I absolutely devoured it, reading it in less than 48 hours, because I just couldn’t put it down.
What are you currently reading?
Right now I’m reading three books. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire is the sequel to one of my favourite books so far this year, From Blood and Ash. So far, it’s just as good, if not better, with the brilliant skill for writing, and the utter tension that has been built up. I’m only ten chapters in so far, but am struggling to put it down, unsurprisingly.
Book two is The Vanishing Stair, the second book in the Truly Devious series. The twelve hours in between finishing the first book and the second book arriving felt like they lasted at least three weeks, and I started the book the minute it landed on my doorstep.
The third and final book that I’m currently making my way through is City of Fallen Angels. Along with the lovely Ellie and Fiona, we’re making our way through the Shadowhunters series. Our last read was The Red Scrolls of Magic, and after our brief diversion across Europe, we’re back in New York with Clary. We’ll be reviewing together again for Shadowhunter Saturday once more at the end of the month.
What are you planning on reading next?
It does depend which book I finish first, but I think I’ll be reading The Wolf Den. Due out for publication in May, I’m really looking forward to stepping back into a moment of historical fiction with this book. I recently finished – and loved – Ariadne, and while these books might be very different, what they have in common is the observation of the position of women in ancient history, wherever in the world they are.
Well, thanks for stopping by! That’s all for today. Drop by again soon for more posts.
This is inspiring as I have started to pick up reading some books.
