WWW Wednesday – 7th April 2021

Hello and welcome to my first WWW Wednesday of April. Last week I looked at the end of March, and was looking forward to Spring having sprung. Today I’m writing under a fluffy blanket and a duvet, and it had the nerve to snow outside this week. It’s like the weather knew I’d mentioned it improving. Still, at least cold weather gives a good excuse to stay snuggled up and read!

Just as always, WWW Wednesday looks at reading habits in a simple way;

  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
My most recent finished read is Bridge of Souls, the third book in the Cassidy Blake series by Victoria Schwab. I’ve really enjoyed reading these books, but this was certainly my favourite. I don’t know if there’s plans for any more in this series, but I really hope there is. Equally, if this is just a trilogy, I’ll be quite happy thinking that it’s been neatly tied up, as it really is beautiful. These books just made me so happy, and I can’t wait to review all of them!

What are you currently reading?
Right now I’ve got three books on the go. For the next Shadowhunter Saturday with Fiona and Ellie, we’ve all started City of Lost Souls. So far I’m about 200 pages of the way through and loving it; where City of Fallen Angels was a bit slow right up to the last few chapters, this book has started with a kick and hasn’t slowed down at all. I think it might be my favourite of the Mortal Instruments so far, but we’ll see.

Book two on the list is Among the Beasts and Briars, which is another buddy read, this time with some of my other book blogger friends. We’re reading this one throughout the month, splitting it up into sections per week with discussions after. So this time we’re reading up to chapter eight and then discussing it tomorrow, which I’m looking forward to. My copy only arrived on Monday, and I’m about two chapters away from where we’ll be stopping. I’m really bad at these as I just want to keep going, especially when a book grabs me – and this one has!

To make up for the fact I’m having to pace myself with the other books…. I’m also reading Shadow and Bone. I read a third of it in one day, and so far I’m…. intrigued. I want to try and get through the whole trilogy before the TV series starts (although of course I’m now bloody annoyed that all of the books now have printed stickers on….) and then I might make my way through the other parts of the universe.

What are you planning on reading next?
Next on my reading list is Kate In Waiting. I’m on a blog tour for it in a few weeks time, and it was on my April TBR so I’m going to dig in as soon as it arrives. I’m also going to make a start on some of the other NetGalley TBR as well. There’s a lot of books to make my way through so I’m excited to read some of those. My son is at his dad’s this weekend, so I’m going to listen to an audiobook as well, The Hanging Tree, which is the next one in the Rivers of London series.

Well, that’s my week all caught up! Some book reviews that might be relevant to this post:
City of Bones
City of Ashes
City of Glass

Rivers of London
Moon Over Soho
Whispers Under Ground
Broken Homes

  1. SUCH good book choices here! I’m glad you’re reading through Shadow and Bone. I adored the trilogy and hopped right into Six of Crows. Read all of them in no time and now I’m getting ready to launch myself into King of Scars. I’m so excited about the show. Also, so glad you enjoyed the Cassidy Blake series. I’m not usually one for middle grade, but I love everything Schwab writes, so I’m sure I’d enjoy those as well!
