WWW Wednesday – April 14th 2021

Hello hello and welcome back – or welcome, should this be your first venture to my little corner of the web – for another trip through my reading list for WWW Wednesday. If you were around for last week, you will have seen that this month I’m taking part in two buddy reads, City of Lost Souls as part of our Shadowhunter Saturday adventures (previous books here (The Red Scrolls of Magic) and here (City of Fallen Angels)), and I’m also reading Among the Beasts and Briars with the Write Reads blogger gang. I’m finding this parituclar book SO difficult to pace myself with as we have it planned out week by week, and it’s so engrossing, I just want to keep reading. I’m useless at patience, and it’s a particularly good book, which doesn’t help. I do recommend it however! And I’m looking forward to reviewing it.

WWW Wednesday is a lovely way of summing up your recent reading habits in three simple questions:

  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
Yesterday morning I finished Shadow and Bone. This is my first step into the Grishaverse, and I did enjoy the book. It was fast paced, and I have a lot of thoughts to offer about it when I write my review. I’m hoping to read the trilogy before the TV series starts as I’m curious to see how it will translate. The book is full of beautiful detail and gorgeous decorations, so I’m intrigued. This was also book 45 of the year so far, so I’m way ahead of schedule!

What are you currently reading?
Along with the two books mentioned above as the buddy reads, I’ve got one physical and one audio book on the go. I’m reading Witches Steeped In Gold which was kindly sent to me ahead of publication from Hot Key as part of my Ambassador role. Yesterday we had a lovely chat with author Ciannon Smart about her upcoming release, and her plans for the second part of the duology too. I specifically waited until after this interview to read the book to build the excitment, and it did just that; I picked the book up immediately afterwards and wanted to be left alone with it!

My audiobook of choice at the moment is The Court of Miracles. I’ve heard so many things about this book for so long, I finally decided to take a dive and jump on in. I’m a big Les Miserables fan, having read the unabridged book too many times to count and having loved it more each time. I’m only a short while into the book so far, and I’m curious to see where it goes.

What are you planning on reading next?
Part of me is just treading water until the release of A Crown of Gilded Bone at the moment, and as soon as that arrives on my tablet, I’ll be ignoring mankind for the forseeable. In the meantime I’ll be squeezing in as many books as possible, and if I have time, I’m going to read The Ravens and Circus of Wonders.

Well, that’s where I’m at! Thanks for stopping by. In the last week, here are some of my previous posts, in case you might not have seen them:
Foxglove Summer
Mina and the Undead
This Lie Will Kill You
The Loop & The Block
A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire
The Vanishing Stair

  1. How are you enjoying Witches Steeped in Gold? I am currently listening to an advanced audiobook. While I don’t think it will be five stars for me the setting and culture is so rich and impossible not to love.
