WWW Wednesday – 19th May 2021

Wednesday has rolled around again, and this week I’m a year older. Yes, I’m dragging my birthday out for absolutely as long as I can, and no one will make me feel the least bit guilty about it. If I can’t have champagne on my birthday, I will at least make a very big drama out of it. You’re all welcome.

But, alas, a birthday really is only one day, and the rest of the book world needs to go on. Although my post on Monday was one of my most popular posts so far this year! You can read it here: Why I Love To Read… Fantasy.

The rest of the month is still ahead of us, and I’m six books in so far, with a few that I haven’t finished that I’m hoping to, but for now, here’s where I’m at. As always, WWW Wednesday is all about looking at where your reading is at with three simple question:

  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
After getting myself into a bit of a book rut, I recently read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. This is one of those “it’s been on my shelf for so long, why has it taken me so long to read?” books for me as I loved it so much. I’ve written my review and it’ll be going up in a few days time. It made me think and feel so much, both in relation back to being a teenager, and also as a parent. It was like a reminder we’re all going through our lives at the same time, battling our different demons.

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading two different books, no surprise there. My audiobook of choice is Body of Stars by Laura Maylene Walter, which is a book I was initally approved for on NetGalley and didn’t get around to reading before publication. The audiobook is narrated by one of my favourite narrators, Erin Spencer, and I’m absolutely loving it.
My physical book is Double Lives: A History of Working Motherhood by Helen McCarthy, which I’m reading for the Wolfson History Prize 2021. I’m so excited to be involved with this blog tour again, and this book is a captivating read.

What are you planning on reading next?
My husband actually bought me a new Kindle for my birthday as my old one was starting to crash on me on a regular basis, so my plan is to work my way through my ARC list that I have as ebooks. These can only be sent once to one Kindle email, so my new ARCs will go to my new Kindle, but I have some brilliant books to read in the meantime.

Short and sweet this week! Thank you for stopping by, and be sure to come back again; I’m posting daily with a wide variety of content.
