Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little corner of the internet. It’s Wednesday again, and I swear the weeks are flying away at the moment. I can’t even say it’s because the weather is getting better as it’s all grey sky and clouds here but I’m fine with that; I like a good storm, so fingers crossed for thunder and lightening!
Last week was my birthday week and naturally that had an impact on my reading because a) I turned back into an excitable child again and b) I had so many new books to be excited about! I’ve got a post going up this weekend about how I spent my book vouchers and a bit of my birthday money, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that.
As always, WWW Wednesday is about tracking your reading habits with three simple questiosn:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?
What have you recently finished reading?
I was up until about 2am on Tuesday morning finishing off Monstrous Design, the sequel to Dangerous Remedy. This historical fiction with a touch of scientific-based magic is due out in a few weeks and I already see it being highly successful. Based in the midst of the French Revolution, and with our characters split on either side of the Channel, it was a highly emotional read, and I read the last third in one sitting. I even went downstairs to retrieve snacks so I could keep reading. It’s that kind of book.
What are you currently reading?
As well as still working my way through Double Lives for my review next week, I’m listening to an audio ARC of the upcoming book, The Wolf and The Woodsman. This was one of my most anticipated books of the year, and I was so excited to be given early access by NetGalley. It’s such a relaxing book to listen to, whilst still keeping me fully engaged; none of this drifting off whilst listening. I do listen to it with my eye mask on as it’s great for when my migraines are bad, but my eyes keep flying wide open with plot points so I don’t know why I bother. It’s the best of problems to be facing. I’m halfway through and I am so invested in these characters, I don’t know what I’m going to do when it finishes.
What are you planning on reading next?
Well as I mentioned last week, I have my new Kindle now, so I’m working through my ARCs, starting with The Immortal Game for a blog tour. Here’s the synopsis:
Galene, daughter of Poseidon, desperately wants to earn her place among the gods. But when a violent attack leaves Mount Olympus in chaos and ruins, she is accused of the crime. Banished from Olympus, Galene sets out to prove her innocence and discovers a more deadly plot—one that threatens even the oldest of Immortals.
Fortunately, she has allies who willingly join her in exile:
A lifelong friend who commands the wind.
A defiant warrior with deadly skill.
A fire-wielder with a hero’s heart.
A mastermind who plays life like a game.
All-out war is knocking at the gates. Galene and her friends are the only ones who can tip the scales toward justice, but their choices could save Olympus from total annihilation, or be the doom of them all.
So that’s where I’m at! Thanks for stopping by, and please come back again soon. x
