Hello hello, and welcome or welcome back to my little corner of the internet. Today it’s time for another book tag, this time the Bookish A-Z Book Tag. I took my copy of the prompts from here.
I’ve been really enjoying filling in different book tags recently, and when I came across this one, I thought it was well worth doing. It’s always good fun and with an A to Z to fill in, I’m so ready for the challenge!
Bookish A-Z Book Tag
Author you’ve read the most books from
Probably Kathy Reichs. I’ve read most of the “Bones” books, although not the most recent ones. It’s been a while since I picked one up but I enjoyed every book I read. If I had time to reread them all, I would quite happily do so!
Best sequel ever
A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. Or maybe A Court of Mist and Fury. I can’t decide which! They’re both utterly brilliant. Or to step out of the fantasy mindset, maybe Good Girl, Bad Blood, or The Vanishing Stair.
Currently reading
Not My Problem by Ciara Smyth
Drink of choice while reading
This might sound really boring but… water. I do drink a lot of tea and coffee (I’m a self confessed tea and coffee snob) but I drink several big bottles of water a day.
Ereader or physical book
Physical book. I enjoy using my Kindle, and I use it most days, but I do prefer physical books; the weight of them, the smell of them, the picking them up.
Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school
I dated a lot of assholes in secondary school, so I’m afriad I probably need to say Tamlin. I don’t WANT to say that, but being painfully honest… Yeah.
Glad you gave this book a chance
Body of Stars. It was a book I was expecting to like, but not expecting to love as much as I did. It ended up being a five star read that I was impacted by.
Hidden gem book
Among the Beast and Briars. This is a book I hadn’t even heard of until it was picked out for a group read, and I absolutely loved it. It was utterly brilliant.
Important moment in your reading life
The moment I decided that life – especially my life – was too short to finish books I do not like or enjoy. There’s too many books in the world I want to read to hold myself up on books that I’m not getting through.
Just finished
The Wolf and The Woodsman, by Ava Reid.
Kinds of books I won’t read
Erotica! I cringe even just writing the word. I’m not a prude, and I’m fine with sex in books, I just don’t enjoy it when it’s the only thing in a book.
Longest book you’ve read
Les Miserables. I read it when I was a teenager and I will get around to rereading it at some point because it is utterly brilliant.
Major book hangover because of
From Blood and Ash series. These books have got me utterly HOOKED and I’m so stuck after finishing The Crown of Gilded Bones

Number of bookcases you own
We have three real bookcases, all full, and then we have multiple Kallax units where a lot of the squares are allocated for books, with hardbacks at the back and paperbacks at the front. In total, probably about eight bookcases if worked out to standard size. That’s a bit terrifying.
One book you have read multiple times
Last year I read ACOTAR series five times, and so far this year I’ve read the three FBAA twice. I tend to get very involved in what I’m reading and struggle to snap my brain out of those worlds. When I wrote my piece about Why I Love To Read Fantasy, I think a lot of that summed up where I’m at. I don’t tend to reread individual books, strangely; I like a series I can get lost in.
Preferred place to read
Anywhere! I love to read full stop, I’m not put off where I am. Just sat, somewhere, with a good book? That’s all I need. We’re hoping at some point to get a new sofa, and when we do to get a matching armchair so I can curl up. But that’s a pipeline dream for now!
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you have read
“Only you can decide what breaks you”, “you bow to no one” and “you do not yield” were all inspirations for my book tattoo.
Reading regret
Not allowing myself to enjoying young adult before the last few years! I was so caught up in what I thought I “should” be doing, I didn’t stop to think about what I wanted to do. I won’t make that mistake again.
Series you started and need to finish
The only series I think I’ve started and not finished is Throne of Glass. I keep being told I need to push through the first few books and maybe I do. Otherwise, I’m just waiting for the rest of From Blood and Ash to be released.
Three of your all-time favourite books
I can’t pick, so here’s three from this year that I haven’t already mentioned!
– Malice
– The Red Scrolls of Magic
– The Girls I’ve Been
Unapologetic Fangirl For
Casteel Da’neer. And Poppy Balfour for that matter.
Very excited for this release more than all the others
This year, I’m really excited for A Shadow In The Embers, which is a prequel to the From Blood and Ash series, using some of the characters we’ve met briefly in the latest book. Next year sees the release of two books I’m really excited for, the second Crescent City book, Crescent City: House of Sky and Breath, and also book four in the From Blood and Ash series. I’ve been waiting so long for the new Crescent City, I really can’t wait. I think they both come out fairly close to each other too, so it’s going to be a busy month!
Worst Bookish Habit
Oh this I can answer easily. I read too many books at the same time! I don’t know how many books are on my bedside table. Case in point, I nearly typed “bookside table”. I think that says it all.
X marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book
Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin.

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way too late)
The book I’m reading at the moment! Late at night is always my favourite time to read, when it’s quiet around me. This week I’m reading Not My Problem as an ebook ARC and House of Salt and Sorrows as audio.

Love your answers! This is one I haven’t done yet, so I am adding it to my list. Alo, I hate erotica too. I’m like you, I am no prude, but I do tend to get embarrassed when I read a book that is nothing but sex.
