Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. It’s heading towards the end of the month and I’m feeling good with how my reading has worked out – thanks entirely to the existence of audiobooks.
With my visual impairment still causing hell on the physical book front, I’m relying on audiobooks completely currently, which is okay; I tend to lay down with my headphones in and an eyemask on, letting my eyes rest as much as possible while they need to. I know from experience that as frustrating as it all is, there’s no point fighting it, and I just have to accept the situation. Today I have my latest migraine treatment, so I’m hoping that I’ll have a bit of relief in the coming days and weeks, especially as I get further away from my second Covid injection, which did trigger my migraines to a degree too. So fingers crossed I’ll be back on form fairly soon.
So, back on topic!
WWW Wednesday as always is about looking at reading habits with three simple questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?
What have you recently finished reading?
This weekend, I binged on the newest Truly Devious book, The Box in the Woods. This was a standalone following the Truly Devious mystery trilogy, featuring one of my favourite protagonists, Stevie Bell. It was brilliant to be reunited with Stevie and co again, and I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the whole series, or this one in particular to those who have read the first three.
What are you currently reading?
This week I’ve got a couple of books on the go. I’m still working through my buddy read, It’s Behind You, which is getting more and more spooky by the page. Brilliant. I’m also managing the odd chapter or two of The Yearbook but I haven’t decided whether I’m going to continue with it or not yet.
The rest of my books on the go are audiobooks. The Magpie Society, Ninth House, and House of Salt and Sorrows are all books I’m working my way through in bits and pieces when I’m in the right mood for different books. I’ve nearly finished The Magpie Society, which is, again, getting creepier and creepier. I’m going to need something to relax with at this rate!
What are you planning on reading next?
With only a week left of the month, I’m hoping to get all of the above finished if possible. I’m not quite sure what I’ll be reading next but my July reading plans will be going up soon as part of the Path or Pantheon Readathon, so keep an eye out for that post!
Thanks for stopping by this sunny Wednesday. See you soon!
