Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little corner of the internet. Today I’m going to be talking about the five star reads so far this year, and how they’ve ended up at the top of my list. I’ve been really lucky this year, all things considered, and at beyond the 60 reads point, the majority have been around the four star mark, which isn’t bad as an avarage! But there have been some stand outs, those five stars, and it’s those gems I’m bringing you today.
So far this year I have read nineteen different five star books, along with a reread of the From Blood and Ash trilogy, which feels like a really good percentage, being nearly a third of the books I’ve read.

- From Blood and Ash
- Malice
- Written in Bone: Hidden Stories in What We Leave Behind
- The Gilded Ones
- Ariadne
- The Red Scrolls of Magic
- The Girls I’ve Been
- Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2)
- Truly Devious
- A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Blood and Ash #2)
- The Hand on the Wall (Truly Devious #3)
- Bridge of Souls (Cassidy Blake #3)
- The Prison Healer
- The Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood and Ash #3)
- Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3)
- Body of Stars
- The Wolf and the Woodsman
- Threadneedle
- Ace of Spades
On top of that, nearly forty of my reads have rated at four stars, and damn if that isn’t a great result by this point in a year! I’ve been so happy with nearly every book this year, and with good reason, because it’s worked out to be so good full stop. There’s always still time for things to go wrong, naturally, but I’m feeling happy and confident with how the rest of the year will look with this being the half way point.
I won’t link to every single one of the thirty-seven four star reviews, because even I am not that impressed with myself, but here’s a few of my favourites from those wonderful collection of four stars:
- Glimpsed
- Bad Habits
- Broken Homes (Rivers of London #4)
- Sweet & Bitter Magic
- City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake #1)
- This Lie Will Kill You
- Mina and the Undead
- Among the Beasts and Briars
I feel like I’ve been especially lucky with how many ARCs that I’ve been sent that have ended up in those high ranking numbers. It’s been especially brilliant, that honestly, I really just feel so happy looking back over what I’ve read. With everything else that’s been going on in my life, my health, my vision, my chronic pain, writing this post has made me feel pretty damn good! So well done me. You can buy some books.
Thanks for coming along for the ride, I hope some of you might enjoy a few of these recommendations. See you again soon!

Well done, you’ve made some good choices in what you’ve read, obviously, and chosen well with ARCs as well. I’ve done pretty well this year actually, too – hooray!

The only ones on your lists that I’ve read are The Infernal Devices (which I loved) and The Gilded Ones (which I just finished on Saturday and didn’t particularly enjoy… but maybe I’ll like the sequel more??) It’s so fun to see which books you’ve been liking this year. You’ve had some great 5-star reads! I hope to read the From Blood and Ash series later on in the year!

That’s a pretty good year so far – I hope it continues. And I’m glad to see most of your 5stars are on my TBR pile 🙂
