Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. Wednesday has rolled around again, and after two busy days with a read-a-long and then an interview, I’m relaxing back a little bit and bringing you one of my regular posts, WWW Wednesday.
Last week, I talked about planning on reading City of Heavenly Fire next which hasn’t happened. All three of us in our little Shadowhunter trio have been struggling with life overwhelming our plans, so we’re postponing our Shadowhunter Saturday for another month, and I’m making a mental note to actually read the damn book next month! Instead, I’ve been starting on some of my August blog tour books as well as finishing off the ones I had already started. It’s been quite a busy book week.
WWW Wednesday is a really useful way of looking over recent reading habits by asking three simple questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?
What have you recently finished reading?
I’ve actually finished three books this week, as well as reading one over the weekend! Two I mentioned last week, For the Wolf and The Things We Don’t See, one that was a short middle grade novel for a blog tour in August, Tia Lugo Speaks No Evil, and throughly enjoyed Raising Hell by Bryony Pearce as my weekend read. It’s been a busy few days, and thankfully I’ve found a little bit of a routine to cram some reading in each day before my eyes shut off from functioning.
What are you currently reading?
As always, I have a few books on the go. I’m reading an ARC of The Five Clues which I’m not yet very far into but am absolutely loving. My current physical book is Spin the Dawn, which I’ve had on my TBR for ages and am finally reading to tick off the “art” prompt for one of this month’s readathons. Finally, my audiobook right now is Wayward Son, which I’m not very far into yet having only finished For the Wolf last night, but is so far a very fun book.
What are you planning on reading next?
Tomorrow my copy of She Who Became The Sun arrives and I absolutely cannot wait to start that one; I wasn’t well enough to read the eARC in the recent weeks, so I’ve waited for my physical copy to arrive to enjoy it fully.
I’ve also got a book called In the Hall With the Knife, inspired by Cluedo, which I’m really looking forward to reading. It looks like it’s going to be the perfect balance between entertainment and trash: just what I need right now.

Yay for reading 3 books this week! I really want to read Spin the Dawn! I also have the e-arc of She Who Became the Sun on my list for July but I am quickly running out of time so it may well end up on Augusts pile!

Great reading! I’m currently reading Broken Greek by Pete Paphides which is a memoir of his childhood as the son of Greek immigrants (oddly, living very near where I am now) and the beginnning of his love of music, and The Stopping Places by Damian Le Bas which is about Gypsy/Traveller life and culture and is fascinating. Next up I have two short books about being an anti-racist ally and one of the July NetGalley books on my shelf. I also have a big fancy book on interiors to review for Shiny New Books – we’ve been having a heatwave and it’s been just TOO HOT to get that out to read!
