Hello hello and welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. Somehow we’re into August in this bizarre kind of year, and books wise I’ve managed to hit book number ninety which is a pretty good feeling. My target for the year in total was a hundred books, so anything from here onwards is a bonus, but also utterly awesome as last year I was at under eighty in total (albeit because I didn’t know how to add ARCs in part).
I had an eye test last week which sounds very boring and grown up, but because of my visual impairment, even the slightest different in my prescription can make a difference as my brain processes small changes in a big way. I ended up needed new every day glasses and new reading glasses, so I’m hoping that a change in the every day glasses will take some of the constant pressure off my eyes, and the change in the reading glasses will – obviously – help when reading. I pick them up next week, so we’ll see how that goes!
Back to the matter at hand.
WWW Wednesday is about looking over current reading habits using three simple questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
I’ve finished two books so far this month, one that I’d already started before the month rolled over, and one that I’ve read just this month. My most recently finished is Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. While waiting for the second book in The Inheritance Games series to come out shortly, I’m reading a bit more of her work, and this audiobook is just so much fun, narrated in a strong Southen accent that brings the story strongly to life.
What are you currently reading?
As always, I’ve got more than one book on the go at the moment. My ebook is an ARC of How Moon Fuentez Fell in Love with the Universe which I’m reading for a blog starting next week. It’s a young adult contemporary novel that I’m enjoying quite a lot, and I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on it next week!
My current ebook is They’ll Never Catch Us, a recently released YA thriller (we all know how much I love those!) by the author of They Wish They Were Us. Told from the dual perspectives of two sisters on the school running team, it’s an interesting concept, and I’m absolutely loving it.
As for my physical book, I’m working my way through The Appeal. This is a truly unique book, especially more stand out as it’s a debut. A murder mystery, rather than a standard story, this is a collection of email and text exchanges, where the reader is asked to look at the messages and work out who the killer is. The temptation to flick to the back to see if my suspicions are correct is so hard to fight….
What are you planning on reading next?
August is packed full of blog tours, so next I’ll be reading more books for those. I’ve got a selection to pick from, from middle grade fiction to thrillers, although I’ll probably read in post publishing order if I can use my common sense rather than my urge to just grab books. I’m never good at that. Maybe I’ll have to try.

So there’s the first Wednesday of August wrapped up! It’s been a busy month already, and after July being so successful (tune in for those posts this week!) I’m hopefuly for this month too.
