WWW Wednesday – 15th September 2021

Hello hello, and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. I’ve had a really intense, emotional start to the week with the funeral of a beloved family member on Monday. It’s been difficult to work out how I’m feeling hour by hour right now, but I want to mention my wonderful Uncle Joe, because he did things like teaching me to love thunderstorms, and to dance in the rain (literally), and would let go of my wheelchair at the top of slopes then run down next to me to catch me at the bottom. I’m lucky enough that I only have positive memories of this wonderful man, including a love of books, and his wife, my Auntie Jean, having written a book about some of their amazing experiences as a military couple.

Back on topic, September is bouncing along as an interesting month reading wise. I’ve already read quite an impressive – to my eyes anyway – amount of books, and almost all of them are books I would recommend to other people. I’ve read everything from supernatural to thrillers, and I’m absolutely loving the selection that have ended up in my recently read pile.

I also had a massive book sort out, with the pressure of moving house at some point soon hanging over us, and got rid of a lot of books that I either will never read or will never read again. I was so strict! It was unbelievable that I managed it to be honest as I absolutely confess to having hoarding tendancies – although it is not hoarding if it is books, right? I now have a “read” and “to be read” bookcase, and love the new lay out, although it needs more sorting to get it looking just how I want it, which my husband will be challenged to at some point in the next week.

Now, it’s a Wednesday, and that means WWW Wednesday! So that means:

  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
My most recently finished book is Pefectly Preventable Deaths. I actually read this book a while ago in physical form, but listened to it this time as an audiobook, and got chills all over again. With book two, Precious Catastrophe, due out at the end of this month, I wanted a refresher on the details I need to remember when it comes to reading it. I enjoyed it just as much this time around, and maybe even more, because it was so well performed. I absolutely loved it.

What are you currently reading?
Currently I’ve got multiple books on the go – surprise! More than normal actually, because I;ve been so indecisive in the middle of all this emotional mess. Here’s what I’m reading right now:

  • Curses – Fantasy – Audio
  • The Ivies – YA Thriller – Audio
  • The Near Witch – Fantasy – Paperback
  • Six Stories – Crime Fiction – Audio
  • Once Upon A Broken Heart – Fantasy – eARC
  • White Smoke – YA Thriller – ARC
  • Incendiary – Fantasy – Hardback

What are you planning on reading next?
I have books a plenty planned next! Starting with Paradise On Fire, which I’ll be picking up today, then going on to read Lakesedge, both of which are for blog tours. I also need to finish at least some of the books that I’ve started because even I don’t need this many books on the go. I’m really good at overwhelming myself some times!

Thanks for stopping by for this somewhat emotional WWW Wednesday, and please be sure to pop by throughout the rest of the month (and after!) for daily posts. I’ll be powering through with posting every day, and I’ve got plenty of books that I’ll be reviewing in time if I’ve got this many going right now.

Take care, and hug your loved ones tight for me.

  1. So sorry to hear about your Uncle Joe – I’m glad you had such a dear and positive person in your life but that’s really hard.

Well done on the downsizing. I’m pretty strict about what I keep and I run through my shelves from time to time and pass along stuff, but it stays at around 2,000 books in the house …

On Wednesday I was finishing my assigned chapters of “Roots” which is a quicker read than I’d imagined (I’m doing 30 chapters a week for the month) and I started Shon Faye’s “The Transgender Issue” which is so well done and important. I am also reading a couple of nature books for some light relief!
