Hello hello, and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet! It’s the first Wednesday of the month, and of the year in fact, and so it’s time to roll out WWW Wednesday again. That makes it sound like it’s been hiding somewhere for longer than a week, but it’s a weird time of year, isn’t it? Things always feel a bit up in the air, and time seems to last forever and no time at all.
As of this morning, I’ve finished my fifth book of the year, giving me a great start to my 200 book target, and I haven’t even picked up a graphic novel yet! One of the things I’m planning on doing this year is reading a few graphic novels, starting with the two my husband bought me for Christmas – the first Rivers of London graphic novel, and Lore Olympus – and maybe branching out a bit more. Not because of the total I’m aiming for, but because I’ve watched my husband enjoy so many over the years, and now my son too, that I’d quite like to get in on that excitment.
Anyway, back on topic.
WWW Wednesday is a way of looking at reading habits by asking three simple questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
My most recently finished book has been Broken Wish (The Mirror #1). I don’t always share GoodReads links but I have this time as it’s not a book I’d heard of before, and there’s a few books with similar titles. I heard about it when someone recommended the sequel on a “lesser known fantasy books” thread I saw, and decided to go back to the beginning of the series to read them. I ended up really loving this book, and the characters in it. I’m going to follow the rest of the series, and I’m curious to do so as each book is written by a different author, so it’ll be interesting to see how things play out!
What are you currently reading?
My audiobook at the moment is The City of Brass, which I’m pleased to say is on my January TBR, and so I can swear down I was actually planning on reading. I know, I’m surprised too. I always do my best to stick to my TBR but I also have a very short attention span and get distracted my shiny pretty things (like books) far too easily.
As far as physical books go, I’ve got two on the go. One is I Know You Did It, the young adult thriller I’m buddy reading with the lovely Amy, author of Mina and the Undead. I’ve read the first installment, and I can’t wait to discuss it together! Also on the go is Under the Whispering Door. Although I only started this last night, I’m really enjoying it so far, and I’m hoping I’ll love it as much as I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea.
What are you planning on reading next?
Of course, part of this always depends on what I finish first. But along with my January TBR to pick from, I have several ARCs to pick from, and my Christmas book voucher haul too! A lovely friend has suggested a buddy read of The Priory of the Orange Tree which I’ve been intending to read for far too long, so that might be one I jump into soon.

So ther we have it. The first Wednesday of the year wrapped up. Have you read the rest of the posts I’ve shared so far this year?
