WWW Wednesday – 2nd February 2022

Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. It’s the first Wednesday of February, and after sharing my Janaury Wrap Up yesterday, now WWW Wednesday is about looking at the bigger picture, and forward as well as back.

The month has opened on a bit of a tough spot for me. Both my son and husband have had Covid over the last week. I’m still testing negative, but with the way my health works, I’m feeling rough from the stress of everything regeardless, although obviously I’ve got my fingers crossed to stay negative! I’ve also started yet another period, which just seems unfair seeing as my last one only finished a week ago. And with my endometriosis, that always knocks me for six. So the first day of February was spent mostly sleeping. I managed to squeeze in a few chapters, but found myself dropping off, and put my book back down to really wait until I felt well enough to take everything away.

So let’s get back on track.

WWW Wednesday is about looking at recent reading habits with three simple questions:

  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you planning on reading next?

What have you recently finished reading?
My most recent finished read is The Revelry. This recently released young adult mystery with a dash of the supernatural reminded me strongly of books such as The Devouring Gray and House of Hollow; spooky and atmospheric, with an out of bounds area that only certainly people can access. I’m not quite sure what you’d call this trope, but it’s one that really grabs my attention, and works brilliantly in these pages. Keep and eye out for my upcoming review!

What are you currently reading?
As it stands right now, I’ve got three books on the go; one paperback, and two audiobooks. My physical book is As Good As Dead, the conclusion to the A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder trilogy. You can read my recent second viewings post about the first book here.
For audiobooks, when I’m in pain, I’ve found I pay the most attention to what I’m reading if I bounce between two. So I’m listening to Heartless as my own choice, and Castles In Their Bones, which is for a blog tour. I’ll be sharing my review of that one later this week.

What are you planning on reading next?
Tomorrow I’m hoping to swing by my parent’s house to collect a parcel… a lovely bookish friend has sent me a copy of The Jasmine Throne so I can join in with a blog tour, and I’m keen to get ready to go.
I’m also hoping to start Daughter of the Moon Goddess fairly soon, as this has been one of the books I’m most excited about releasing at the beginning of this year.
Along with those, I’ve got my February TBR to crack on with as well!

So there we have it, that’s where I’m at this first Wednesday of February. I’m hoping I feel up to doing a bit more reading today, and a little less hiding under the duvet – wish me luck!
