October 2022 Wrap Up

Hello hello and welcome or welcome back to my little bookish corner of the internet. Today I’m sharing my October Wrap Up. It’s been a delightfully eclectic and spooky reading month, coupled with a few comfort reads and rereads.

While I’ve still been keeping a reading journal during my break from blogging, this is the first time I’ve sat down and written a post about what I’ve managed to read since the very beginning of this year. It hasn’t added to my motivation as such, but it has felt like a pat on the back when I’ve written it all out, knowing what I’ve tackled when I’m still dealing with so much. I’m really pleased with what I managed this month, and having really enjoyed everything I read in October, it feels even better.

Now we’re in November, and I’ve got a bit of a better idea of what I want to read this month. I’ve also decided to attempt NaNoWriMo again this year (because apparently I’ve lost my mind), so my reading will be a bit more focused around what I have planned writing wise, as well as seeing what I can squeeze in around the 50K words I’ll be trying to punch out.

But before we really question my sanity, let’s have a look back over October.

The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash #4) – Audio / Ebook

The Vanishing of Aveline Jones (Aveline Jones #3) – eARC
MG Horror – 4 stars

I squeezed the final chapters of The Vanishing of Aveline Jones into the last hours of Halloween, and as I’ve said before: never underestimate how scary a middle grade book can be! With a storm blowing strong outside and snuggled under a fluffy blanket, it was the perfect spooky read to finish off October with.

I was so pleased to finish my read through of the Blood and Ash series this month. I attempted to read The War of Two Queens last month, and realised that while most of the information was still caught in the webs of my brain, it would be useful to do a whole reread before reaching for this one. I’m so glad I decided to do this. It made everything in it that bit more powerful, as I was caught up in the series afresh, and I loved it even more for that. My review will be upcoming.

Thanks for stopping by for this blog post, and be sure to stop by again soon for reviews, author interviews, and a selection of other posts I have planned.
